Australia and Canada have been ranked among the top 20 most safe and stable regions in the world according to a new COVID-19 Regional Safety Assessment published by the Deep Knowledge Group.
The report analyzed and ranked countries according to their “economic, social and health stability.” It also used a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) to assess how they are prepared to cope with the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
Australia ranked 8th on the list, while Canada ranked 12th. They sit among other Tier 1 countries like Switzerland, Germany, China, South Korea, Singapore, and more who have managed their COVID-19 response well because of their pre-existing preparedness, healthcare access and other strengths, combined with rapid and effective management strategies.
The study explored data from 200 countries and scored them on a list of 130 parameters in the following key categories:
- Quarantine Efficiency
- Monitoring and Detection
- Regional Resiliency
- Government Efficiency of Risk Management
- Healthcare Readiness
- Emergency Preparedness
According to the study, the top 20 countries listed in their Tier 1 have “exceptionally high levels of regional safety.”
The findings in the report help highlight key strategies being used by top scoring regions that could potentially help other regions improve their response and safety.
