Visiting the Taj Mahal

Visiting the Taj Mahal

This past weekend, I had the extreme pleasure of taking a trip from Delhi to Agra. The main reason for the trip was to accompany two of our students to see the Taj Mahal. In addition, my wife, daughter, and mother-in-law went along. My daughter had never seen it, my mother-in-law only once, and for my wife and me it was our second trip there. One student had seen it and the other had never been.Of course, it is amazing.  A beautiful white marble structure, surrounded by a fort made of red. Incredible architecture, incredible history, incredible beauty. I took some amazing pictures and we headed out, on our way back to Delhi.

The school has hired a car and driver for our school needs. Prakash is his name. He is a wonderful man, and wonderful driver, calm, collected, does not use his car horn (if you have ever been to India, you know how rare that is) and always polite and professional. Continue reading »

ILSC Students at the FRESH project

ILSC Students at the FRESH project

International Students have been making their mark in the National Youth Week 2012 through their participation in the FRESH Creative Showcase project.

The FRESH project consisted of three different workshops: photography, dancing and singing. The students have made their own pictures of the city and they have also created their own song and choreographed a dance to show them to the public.

The original song, dance and photography were presented on Tuesday 17 April, and were presented again on Friday 20 April in Brisbane streets. Several ILSC students have participated in the different FRESH project workshops and some of them talked about their experience to The Student Voice.

One of them is Mio, a Japanese girl that has participated in the photography workshop. Mio explains that in this workshop she learned how to use Photoshop and how to take professional pictures. Mio also says that they took pictures of different places of Brisbane. What she liked the most was to meet new people from the school and to have a new experience.

Another student who participated in the FRESH project is Pilar, a Spanish girl. She went to the dance workshop and explains that she had a lot of fun dancing. Pilar says that what she liked the most is to learn steps of different dance styles, such as Hip-hop, Reggaeton and Dance Hall (an African style dance). Pilar says that all the students were surprised about how well the dancing teacher moved, as he is only 17 years old. Continue reading »

Mysterious Castle

Written by: Olga Zakharova, Student at ILSC – San Francisco

Once upon a time in a faraway kingdom there was a castle with a mysterious but famous name, ILSC.  The owners of the castle were a very kind and friendly family.  They were all sidekicks to each other and nothing could destroy them as a family.  They were constantly making new friends from all over the world as they were inviting them to visit their beautiful castle and stay there as long as they wished.  The secret to their popularity was that they gave valuable gifts to each of their visitors – they gave them knowledge – knowledge of the English language – the most desirable gift of their times.  Continue reading »
